Why does my child need a well check?

Well checks are an important part of maintaining your child’s health. The purpose of these visits extends beyond just administering vaccines, but gives you and the provider an opportunity to monitor and manage your child’s health as a team. We use these visits to discuss safety topics for your child, such as safe sleeping, car seats, and school safety. Prevention and monitoring of health concerns is also a large topic; this is accomplished by reviewing nutrition and exercise, but also providing education on the vaccine schedule recommended by the AAP and CDC. During each well check, we monitor your child’s growth curves and their developmental changes which may include their learning and social interactions. If you have concerns you would like to address, well checks give you an opportunity to mention these to your provider so we can manage, follow up, and refer if needed. Starting from birth, we have a standard schedule set by the AAP so we can follow your child as they grow! View this Healthy Children’s article for information on how often well checks should occur, and call us to schedule your child’s next visit today!
